Equal Rights
America
is not a theocracy, so something should not be law just because the
bible says so. If you don't feel that a gay marriage is right under God,
that doesn't matter. The issue here is not if your God approves, it's
whether the government should DISAPPROVE. In which case, it should NOT.
If you don't believe in gay marriage, then don't get gay-married. The
couples that wish to get married do not care if you approve and do not
want your permission. They just want equal rights that are to be granted
to all Americans.
Did you know that the marriage license was
originally instituted in the US to stop whites from interracial
marriages? This world is a different place than it was then, and the
laws must change as well. Anyone that can hold so tightly onto laws this
outdated, makes me wonder what other outdated ideals and morals you
have.
Remember Prohibition, where they succeeded in banning alcohol
for 13 years, only to be later repealed. The Jim Crow Laws which allowed
segregation. The fight for civil rights and women's rights were to
allow for EQUALITY, which is what the gay rights issue is all about.
EQUALITY. So would you hold fast to every law that ever was, exactly the
way it was? Then don't stop the progress for the ones that still need
change.
